September's  Meeting:

Once again our program was the guild favorite - Member Round Tables.

Members volunteer to teach a technique they have learned.  This night five members stepped forward to teach a variety of techniques.  We also had a separate UFO area.

Tonight's offerings included "flying geese, simplified", a small tote, tubular quilt piecing, a chenille bag and locker hooking.

Evening Star Quilters has a Dear Jane focus group that meets before each regular meeting from 7-7:30 pm.
Susan Acevedo leads the group in discussing techniques as well suggesting Dear Jane blocks to be completed by next meeting.  Her philosophy towards her suggestions is "a little prodding wouldn't hurt" since their our so many blocks in this quilt.  Some members are well on their way to completing their own "Dear Jane" quilt.  Some have completed their version of a Dear Jane quilt!

October's Meeting:

We had a guest speaker, Susan Ball Faeder.  Her lecture was on Japanese Fabric . Having had the opportunity to study in Japan as an undergrad student and then later as graduate student, Susan explained how she became fascinated with Japanese textiles, their cultural use and how quilting grew in Japan.  She had many samples of different fabric as well as the templates used to dye the fabric.  She explained the process of dyeing the fabric.  On Friday she offered a workshop in hand work, Sashiko and Folded Kimono.
