July's  Meeting:

There was no formal program for this evening.  Falling right before the holiday weekend and out of consideration of members who were home for the holiday weekend a casual "sit and sew" was scheduled.  The night was spent sewing, whether it was finishing up a community service quilt, a UFO or a challenge.  Marge Geary once again ran our Fabric Table and there were buys to be had by all.

It was a relaxing evening, enjoyed by all.

Evening Star Quilters has a Dear Jane focus group that meets before each regular meeting from 7-7:30 pm.
Susan Acevedo leads the group in discussing techniques as well suggesting Dear Jane blocks to be completed by next meeting.  Her philosophy towards her suggestions is "a little prodding wouldn't hurt" since their our so many blocks in this quilt.  Some members are well on their way to completing their own "Dear Jane" quilt.  Some have completed their version of a Dear Jane quilt!

August's Meeting:

We have a guest speaker, Barbara Arnold.  Her lecture will be on "what a judge looks for" at a juried show.

This will also be our show informational meeting.

Learn how to determine the circumference of your quilt so your entry will be in the right category, find out who is in charge of what committees, receive the chairperson's phone number(s) and pick up an entry application(s).  Find out how to fill out an entry form.  Sign up for the time you want to work the show.  There are plenty of choice time slots available.  Raffle ticket books will also be distributed.  This year's President's Challenge will be discussed.

Community Service:

This is a new membership year.  See Kathy Dehler to hand in this year's charity quilt.

Prior to the start of the meeting come and browse through our library.  Members can take out a book for 1 month and renew for an additional month. Make suggestions on books you would like to see added to the library.  Members have also donated gently used books to the library.
