PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
|
|
Dear Evening Star Quilters,
We are very close to the end of another quilting year.
It's time to get out your cook books and choose a recipe
for our year end dinner, it's time to think about who
you want to elect to represent you on the board, and
it's time to renew your membership as an active member
of ESQ.
An application is being enclosed with this newsletter
and we urge you to fill out the application completely
and let us know what committees interest you. We also
urge those of you who have not been able to complete
your charity quilt to try to find the time to do it.
We all know that at times this can be difficult but
maybe it's time to Rob Peter to Pay Paul and build that
Log Cabin! And if time isn't the problem but you need
some technical assistance to complete one, just let
us know. We'll try to put you in contact with just the
right person. Missed seeing you all in March, but I
do believe that winter is now over!
See you in April!
Sew long and happy,
Cathy

COMMUNITY SERVICE
NEWS
|
|
by Betty Vernillo and Marie Arbucci
Greetings Procrastinators!
Here we are at the end of March, with
only the April and May meetings before this quilt year
comes to an end. And guess what! Over 50 per cent of
our members have not turned in a community service quilt.
If yours is not in our hands by the April meeting, on
the 6th, you will not be entitled to vote in the elections.
If yours is not received by the May 4th meeting, you
will not be entitled to participate in our annual dinner
that night.
Now we know that you had them ready for
the March meeting, which was snowed/sleeted out. So
be sure to bring your community service quilt with you
on April 6th. We¹ll have extra baskets on hand to collect
them.

Note:
Remember, there are people out there who really deserve
and need your thoughtfulness.
Since our March meeting was cancelled, we don't have
any Evening Stars to recognize in this issue. However,
we must thank Barbara Goodloe for the eleven wheelchair
bags she made. We met while shopping and Barbara had
them in her car ready to bring to the March meeting.
She ran out to get them and we happily received them.
How fortunate our paths crossed that day.
Thanks again, Barbara

VOLUNTEER
NEEDED;
Pat Cacace
is looking for a volunteer(s) to provide transportation
to and from LaGuardia airport for Jane Stable (the Feed
Sack Lady) who will be our guest speaker at the April
6th meeting. She will be arriving on U.S. Air at 12:57
PM on Thursday the 6th and will be departing at 9:15
AM on Friday morning. Anyone able to help, please contact
Pat Cacace.

IMPORTANT
REMINDERS;
Anyone who
took home any of the Mineola Community Quilts to finish,
please return them at the March meeting whether finished
or not.
All charity
quilts must be submitted by the April meeting in order
to be a member-in-good-standing. Only those members
will be permitted to vote in the up-coming election.
If your quilt is not submitted by the evening of the
May meeting, you will not be entitled to participate
in our annual dinner. The contribution of one charity
quilt is a requirement of your membership. Exceptions
can be made at the discretion of the Board in the
case of a hardship but all other members are expected
to fulfill their obligation. Our motto is "Education
and Service Through Quilting" and the charity quilts
are our way of fulfilling that credo.
